WHAT IS OZONE?
Ozone is a gaseous molecule that contains three oxygen atoms (O3). As described by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Ozone can exist high in the atmosphere, where it shields the Earth against harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun. It can be created when an electrical charge is passed through the air, which is the methodology used in ozone laundry systems. Once created in a specially designed chamber, ozone acts as a powerful oxidizing and disinfecting agent. According to some estimates, it is 3,000 times more powerful than chlorine. Reported test results show 99.5% kill count in health care installations when ozone is used, versus 97% in standard laundry practices. Also, it reacts with many types of organic stains.
